Empties of 2015
12:27 PMI've been through quite a few products in the past year. I thought it might be interesting to share my thoughts about them with you guys.
Hair Products
Garnier Fructis Style- Sleek and Shine Anti-Humidity HairsprayThis product lasted me almost a year. I used it along with one other hairspray but still a year. That was pretty great, in my opinion. I have very thick, curly and frizzy hair. It is relatively untameable and, pretty much, is the bane of my existence. I need to use hairspray everyday, no matter what I do with it. This worked as well as any other hairsprays I've used. It wasn't as heavy or crusty when it dries as the Aussie types. I probably would purchase this again as crusty is not an adjective I like for my hair.
Pantene Medium Thick Hair Style Creme
This product makes some hefty promises that it certainly doesn't keep. I bought this so long ago, I don't know if they even sell it anymore. I finally decided to get rid of this because it's useless on my hair. I think it could be meant for people with straight hair that's barely thick. The options were fine, medium thick, and then curly. Limited choices... So I went for medium thick. It says it will straighten and smooth, and it really didn't have any affect on my hair. There was still some left when I got rid of this. Needless to say, I will not be repurchasing.
John Freida Frizz-Ease Curl Bursting Mousse
(Wowowowow that faceee in the photo is hot) This product worked really well for me. Some days my hair goes a frizzy, not curly, huge mess. So I'll pop some mousse in it and it solves all of my problems. It isn't like the Herbal Essences mousses, in that you can touch it. I can't stand having to just use the applicator and just let it go wherever it ends up. I love that with this product you can throw it in your palm, mush it between both hands, and work it in your locks. One problem, well it's not really a "problem" but it is part of the range called Frizz-Ease, but it did nothing for my frizz issues. That's a minor negative for me because I did enjoy this product. As a whole, it worked well.
Make-Up
Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam- Air Infused Foundation This foundation is very light and, well... Airy. It has a really light coverage which has been working well for me the past few months. It is only slightly buildable. If you need or want more of a solid coverage, you should avoid this product completely. I really liked how this applied, though I don't know how you would apply this with a brush. I always used my fingers as though it came out as a foam. One downside about this product was that the dispenser or where the product came out broke, I think. All of a sudden I went to use it one morning and it wouldn't come out. After pushing on it for quite a while, some product would trickle out as a liquid. I would get maybe four drops out of it. Then again, it could be just that it was close to empty.
This powder was in transparent. It had no color though it would dull down the colors of my blush and bronzer if I put it on after them instead of before. It ended up breaking during a trip somewhere so I have retired it early. It made only a slight difference in how long my makeup would last in a day. I wouldn't always wear it because it just wasn't incredibly effective, I thought. I'm not going to repurchase this, I think it would make more sense to try a new kind.
Rimmel London-Match Perfection-Skin Tone Adapting Concealer
This concealer works so so so well for me. I have lots of red spot and often small acne marks. I don't get lots of pimples or other acne so I'm not sure how amazing this would be in that case, but for me, it was great. I used it to do some contouring and highlight, since it is a highlight and concealer together, but also for blemishes. It lightened beneath my eyes really well. For spots, I would sometimes have to reapply after a few hours, but that seems normal to me. I use shade 230, Fair/Light. Another really interesting thing about this concealer is that is has a small brush applicator. You do still need to blend it in. I've already bought a new tube!
Softlips-Vanilla
CO Bigelow Lemon Lip Balm
This is my favorite, favorite, favorite lip balm. I have been through 4 or 5 tubes. It is the most amazing lemon flavor. It has such a light creamy formula and works immediately when you put it on your lips. I will recommend this to anyone who has really dry lips, or just wants an incredible lip balm. Though, at $7.50 a pop, I find I use it quite sparingly. I already have a new one opened.
